How our kittens are raised
The mum - to -be is settled into her new temporary surroundings, (usually our lounge or bedroom) when she is a couple of weeks away from her due date, so she can make the most of all the peace and quiet , and rest before her little ones arrive. I'm always on hand for when she goes into labour , and I also have our vet's telephone number close by, just in case a situation arises where I need their help, but thankfully, things usually go fairly smoothly. Our babies are handled from being very tiny, ideally we like to leave mum and kittens to bond and not disturb them too much initially following the birth though, unless absolutely necessary, but we still like to make sure that they are weighed and checked, daily at first, and then at slightly longer intervals when they are fully weaned to check on their progress and well being.

Mum and babies rejoin the rest of the family when the kittens are roughly around 4 weeks old, and venturing further from mum, and wanting to explore their surroundings, Now is when the process of socialisation for the kittens begins properly.

We strive to provide the warm , safe, loving atmosphere where the kittens can experience the world for the first time, without feeling too scared or nervous, thus creating a positive experience .....E:g they receive love and nurturing from both mum, and human family.... but also all of my cats and kittens get used to our other cats, me hoovering around them (sometimes while they continue to sleep) they get accustomed to the television, radio, washing machine , hair dryer and tumble drier. They also have a couple of noisy youngsters to get used to, teenagers who play loud music, bang about and sometimes shout or argue, just like many other normal households.... so by the time they are ready to go to their new homes, they will not be phased by all of the goings on in a regular family environment..Many breeders describe them as "Bombproof"

These early weeks of the kittens lives are the formative ones that I believe begin to shape the personality of the cat. To me, it is a huge responsibility, and a Privilege to be a part of that process. It is wonderful to see their little personalities develop before your eyes, and for them to grow into confident, loving, playful, bossy, cheeky, intelligent, naughty little furry children ,who actively seek out human company.

Important decisions
We want to be sure that our choice of new home is the best possible permanent one for our babies. This is an important decision ,both for us, and for you, and we would encourage you to think very carefully about what is entailed in the care of a kitten , not just in the near future, but for the rest of his or her life , which could well be 20 years!
This in no way means that only the wealthiest, poshest, most experienced, people without younger children or other pets need enquire about owning one of our kittens......... We place more faith in genuiness, love, trust and committment!!!! But please understand that these are our precious little babies, and we want to be as sure as we can be, that the choice of home is the very best for them.
We, in turn , also hope that you will ask about anything you are unsure of, and will come and meet us and our cat family before you make up your mind. We accept that this is not always possible if you live quite far away...The only thing we do ask, is that you don't visit another breeder or litter of kittens on the same day , as there are high risks of infection, especially for young kittens . For information on buying a pedigree kitten please follow this link to the G.C.C.F website http://www.gccfcats.org/buying.html.

*We rarely allow kittens to go to breeding homes, and the ones that do ,mainly only go to experienced breeders of our acquaintance. Although We are only too happy on occasion , to assist a genuine, ethical new breeder.
(I have been fortunate to have been helped by some wonderful people so far, and I feel it is only right to try and assist other cat orientated people in the future, with help and advice if I can, or point them in the right direction of more experienced advisors. Although I am aware that there is always something new for us all to learn.)
* I reserve the right to refuse sale of a kitten/cat at any time, for any reason without explanation .
Time to leave home
Our babies will leave home at around 13-16 weeks old ,completely weaned , litter and scratch post trained,Registered with the G.C.C.F and / or TICA, and vaccinated against: The kittens are also scratch post & litter trained, and Insured for 4 weeks with Petplan from the day you take him or her home. Each kitten also leaves home with a kitten pack which includes: His / her favourite toy Snuggle Blanket New bowl and samples of his/her usual food 4/5 generation Pedigree vaccination /vet health check records an Information / kitten care sheet We are here to help and give a lifetime of support to you and your new family member..If we don't know how to help or advise you,We will try to find someone among our network of breeder friends etc who can ! Points to note *You must bring a suitable cat carrier to collect your kitten(s) as siamese and orientals kittens are capable of getting out of cardboard ones . *I will not knowingly allow any of my kittens to go to a home where they are left alone for most of the day. For this reason we usually like either kittens to go in pairs to a home where they would otherwise be the only cat, or for you to consider adopting a non pedigree kitten or older cat as a companion for him or her. There are sure to be some lovely ,deserving cats and kittens in need of a loving home at the R.S.P.C.A. or cats protection league etc, and you can be sure that they have been vet checked, neutered and vaccinated before you take them too.
